About Property Tax Pushback

Property Tax Pushback exists to give homeowners the clear, do-it-yourself path to challenging an over-assessed property and lowering their property tax bill — the path that appeal and protest companies, who take a cut of your savings, would rather you pay them for.

Why this site

When your county sets your home's value too high, you overpay in property taxes — often year after year. You have the right to appeal (in Texas, "protest") that value yourself, for free. But when people search for help, they mostly find dry government pages that cover only one county, or companies pitching a paid service. Almost no one just hands you the plain-English steps, the deadlines to watch, and the evidence to bring. That is the gap this site fills.

Who runs it

My name is Andrea. I research and write every guide here, and I keep them updated. I am not a lawyer, tax professional, or government agency, and this site is not affiliated with any assessor or appraisal district — it is an independent, homeowner-first resource.

How the content is made

Each guide is built from primary sources: county assessor and appraisal district pages, state department of revenue or taxation guidance, and comparable-sales data. Where a deadline, form, or rule varies by state or county — and it almost always does — we say so and point you to where to confirm it. We show both the do-it-yourself route and what appeal companies charge, so you can decide what makes sense for you.

Editorial independence

We are not paid by appeal firms, and we do not take a cut of your savings. The site is supported by advertising. Our goal is simple: help you understand whether your assessment is too high and act on it yourself when that makes sense.

Important

Everything here is general information, not legal, financial, or tax advice, and no reduction or outcome is guaranteed. Property tax rules, deadlines, and processes vary by state and county and can change — always verify with your county assessor or appraisal district. Questions? Email hello@propertytaxpushback.com.
